Text Box: Glad Tidings Community Church

Twenty twelve is going to be a very exciting year for Glad Tidings Church.  We are sending 15 people, including the senior Pastor Ken,  Powell on a short term trip of 12 days to Guatemala.  We have had individuals from our church that have had the mission trip experience but this will be the first time the church has sent a team on a international mission trip.

We will be travelling to Guatemala to work with PAOC missionaries Pastor Hector Aragon and his wife Ruth.  Our accommodation will be at their home.

Our building project will be just outside of Guatemala City in a place called Mixco.  The project will consist of construction work on a church.  This could include block laying, tying rebar, painting, making cement and what ever it takes.

In addition to our construction work we will be visiting hospitals and schools and a feeding centre.  At the hospitals we will have baby layettes and other things to leave with new mothers.  The school children will receive packages containing pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners.  The teachers will also be given supplies such as, note books, rulers, markers, calculators and coloured pencils.  The women from our “Sew on Fire” group have been busy for the last few months sewing and putting all these things together.  Each team member will be taking a hockey bag that will contain all these supplies.

We believe as a church God has commissioned each and every one of us to share the love of Jesus with everyone that we come in contact with.  A short term missions trip is life changing in many ways  and we believe that it will give us the opportunity to see another part of the world that God loves and cares about.  We ask everyone who reads this article to pray for the team’s protection and that God will be glorified through our efforts.
