how can I know jesus?
The decision to follow Jesus is the most important decision you will make in your entire life.
WHY DO I NEED TO BE SAVED?
The Bible tells us that when God created the world, it was created to be a perfect place where humans and God could live in relationship with one another. The Book of Genesis tells us how God walked in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were sent away from Eden. This disobedience created a broken relationship between God and humanity that exists to this day as it is passed from generation to generation.
HOW ARE WE SAVED?
The Bible also tells us that "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Our broken relationship with God would result in our eternal death if not for the coming of Jesus.
When Jesus came and died on the cross, He provided a way for us to have a new relationship with God. In John 11:25, Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying." This means that, by following Jesus, we can receive new life that takes away our sin.
WHAT ARE WE SAVED FROM?
The Bible says that "everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 3:23). This means that we have all done things that disobey God's law. These wrong actions, or sins, we commit further separate us from our right relationship with God and result is us being separated from God forever.
HOW DO I RECEIVE THIS FREE GIFT?
Deciding to commit your life to following Jesus is the most important decision you will ever make. One auther once wrote: "There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heaven of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, make known through Christ Jesus."
It is only through Jesus that we can receive the free gift of salvation from our sins. Romans 10:9-10 gives us a starting point to our relationship with Christ and receiving the gift of salvation. Here's what it says:
"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved."
